New Iberia – Funeral Services for Mr. Lyman Prince, Jr.,73, will be held at 11:00AM on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Calvary Pentecostal Church of Jeanerette with Pastor W. J. Jackson and Rev. A. L. Lyle officiating and remarks by Sheriff Louis Ackal. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Calvary Pentecostal Church on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 8:00AM until the services.
A native of Weeks Island and a long time resident of New Iberia, Mr. Prince died on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at his hunting lease doing what he loved. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a successful welder and operated his own truck for a number of years. The last eight years he worked for the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department where he enjoyed working as a Range Officer. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and was a faithful member of Calvary Pentecostal Church where he was known for arriving two hours early before each service. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Patin Prince of New Iberia; two sons, Troy F. Prince and his wife Peggy of North Little Rock, AR and Kevin Prince, Sr. of New Iberia; a daughter, Cherrie Doucet and her husband Darryl of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, Cody Thomley, Kevin Prince, Jr., Blake Prince and his wife Ashley, Chris Prince, Scott Prince, Joshua Doucet, Hollie Doucet, Caleb Doucet, and Elizabeth Doucet; three great grandchildren, Jaxon Doucet, Jagger Doucet, and Emma Conwell; a brother, Roger Dale Prince, Sr.; and a sister, Rosa Mae Landry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman Prince, Sr. and Ruby Kennedy Prince; three brothers, Aaron Prince, Sr., James Prince, Sr., and Charles Leland Prince; and a sister, Rachel Naquin.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cody Thomley, Kevin Prince, Jr., Blake Prince, Chris Prince, Scott Prince, Joshua Doucet, Hollie Doucet, Caleb Doucet, and Elizabeth Doucet.
