Earl Mestayer

March 17, 1926 — November 27, 2016

Loreauville- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Earl Mestayer, age 90, will be held at 11:30AM on Thursday, December 1,2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Barry F. Crochet officiating. Internment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Loreauville on Wednesday, November 30,2016 from 4:00PM until 8:30PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, December 1,2016 from 9:00AM until the time of service at 11:30AM.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr Earl died at 1:05PM on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Consolata Nursing Home. He graduated from Loreauville High School in 1944 and two weeks later, he would sign up to serve his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Following the war, he came back home to the community that he loved and decided to go into business for himself.  He was the owner and operator of the Brown Derby Lounge and Unique Trophies Shop.  After retiring from the lounge, Mr. Earl went to work on a quarter boat for Ed Broussard Marine.  Mr. Mestayer  also served his community as Town Alderman and one term of Mayor of Loreauville.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus council 4676.  His favorite pastime was going to the camp in the Basin to fish and hunt.  It was not uncommon to see Earl and Belle at a local establishment on the dance floor, as they loved to dance.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mrs. Dora Belle Mestayer, his sister, Dorothy Graves, Daughter, Maxine Mestayer, Daughter, Simone Mestayer and her companion Wally Landry, Grandchildren, Ricky Smith, Logan Waguespack, Kevin Freeman, Trace Waguespack;  Great-grand children, Adleigh Smith, Liahna Smith, Cohen Waguespack, Marlow Waguespack, and one Great-Grand child on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Mestayer and Annette Bonin Mestayer, his sister Anna  Lee Clark, brothers, Francis Mestayer, Elmo Mestayer, Olan Mestayer, and one son Glenn Edward Mestayer.

David Funeral Home of Loreauville at 118 Main St. (337) 229-8338 will be handling the arrangements.
