Lora Jane Gautreaux Romero

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lora Jane Gautreaux Romero, 80, will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Ruskoski associate Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church , officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 4:30 PM until 8:30 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 8:00 AM until the time of the services.

A native of Chauvin and lifelong resident of Broussard, Mrs. Romero passed away at 11:58 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She will fondly be remembered by all of her many enjoyments in life such as fishing, ceramics, gardening, sewing, taking care of all her grandchildren, and cooking Sunday lunches for her family, but above all she will be remembered for her greatest love, the love she had for her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 55 years, Mr. Earl M. Romero of Broussard; her son, Nicholas Romero and his wife Angela; her daughter, Ramona Romero Breaux and her husband Randy; and her four grandchildren, Julia Romero, Daniel Romero, Rachel Breaux, and Benjamin “Ben” Breaux.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raoul Gautreaux and Carrie Lebouef; brothers, Wilton , Kilton , Milton, Virgis, Joseph, and Murphy Gautreaux; her sister, Gersie Gautreaux Detiveaux ; and a granddaughter Ann Marie Breaux.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Romero, Randy Breaux, Jay Gautreaux, Clark Detiveaux, Daniel Romero, and Benjamin “Ben” Breaux.

The family wants to extend a special thanks to Zack and Regina with Community Hospice and also a special thanks to her sitters.

David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
