Gale Darby Chastant

New Iberia – Celebration of Life services will be conducted for Gale Darby Chastant, 73, on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at David Funeral Home Chapel, 1101 Trotter St, New Iberia with Deacon Theo Landry as Celebrant.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Loreauville.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Gale passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her residence. Her favorite times were spent taking care of her grandchildren and other children which were not her family, going to the casino, baking cookies and her special upside down pineapple cake for which she was known for.

She is survived by her children; Randy Chastant and wife Janie of New Iberia, Henry Chastant and wife Sandra of Loreauville, Lucy Dorsey and husband Vince of Loreauville, Karen Devillier and husband Dwight of Loreauville and Kevin Chastant and wife Tracie of Jeanerette; brothers, Lester Darby, Allen Darby and wife Brenda, Larry Darby all of New Iberia; sisters, Daisy Darby of Erath, Edal Girouard, Bessie Arsement and husband Bobby of New Iberia; thirteen grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jean B. Chastant; step-son, Karl Chastant; step-daughter, Jeanne Chastant; father, Clarence Darby, Sr; mother, Lillie Romero Darby; one granddaughter, Nichole Chastant; brothers, Albert J. Darby, Sr., Charles Darby, Jerry Darby, George Darby and Clarence Darby, Jr; sister, Betty Darby Harry.
