Jeanerette- A service for Mrs. Marjorie Landry Derouen, age 78, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette with Deacon Theo Landry officiating the services. Entombment will follow in St. John Mausoleum.
Stephanie Hoffpauir will be the musician for the services.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Jeanerette on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM by the Men's Rosary Group. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 8:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Margie went home to be with Lord at 8:20 AM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Maison Teche Nursing Home. While she was a homemaker most of her life, her hobbies were cooking, playing Pokeno, watching baseball on TV, attending her families baseball games and word puzzle books. She had a very close relationship with both of her children but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world.
She is survived by her son, Jason Derouen and his wife Patricia of New Iberia, her brother Carol Landry Sr. and late wife Rose, her sister Shirley and her husband J.D. Byrd, her brother Richard Landry and wife Martha; her grandchildren Danielle Johnson and her significant other Ross, Dustin Derouen and significant other Bailey, Chance Derouen and wife Lacey; her great-grandchildren Cohen Derouen, Tucker Derouen, Kinley Derouen, Davien Charles, and Dawson Derouen.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years St. Paul Derouen, her father Dominic Landry, and her mother Lillie Broussard Landry, her daughter Karen Johnson, her great-grand daughter Rylinn Charles, and her brother Michael Landry.
Upholding the honor of pallbearers are Jason Derouen, Perrique Collins, Dustin Derouen, Chance Derouen, Carol Landry Sr. and Richard Landry.
Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be Carol Landry Jr., Cohen Derouen, Tucker Derouen, Kinley Derouen, Davien Charles, and Dawson Derouen.
A very special thanks to her daughter in law Patricia Derouen. The bond between Patricia and Margie was unique and like no other. In earlier years, Margie was there for Patricia as the mother figure she longed for. Patricia will always be grateful to her and until Margie's last breath Patricia was there by her side.
