A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Anita went home to be with the good Lord at Iberia Manor South on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:45 AM.
Anita's life was one of service and loyalty. She worked for over 37 years for the Bell South Telephone Company, working as a toll operator after completing a year of college. Her long-time service as a Lay-Minister for St. Peter's Catholic Church was 19 years, another fine example of her life of loyalty. Serving the local nursing homes as a volunteer for 17 years is another beautiful feat she was proud of as well. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and numerous rosary groups. She was loved dearly and cherished by all those lives she touched over the years. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew her spirit. Also known for her homemade heavenly hash, and her drop biscuits, her cooking will be remembered by those that feasted at her table. Anita's life was a treasure, and her work for the Lord gives peace to those grieving, for she is now home with her Shepherd.
She is survived by her sister Mary Ann Vilcan, of New Iberia; niece Katherine A. Vilcan of Charenton, nephews Thomas E. Vilcan and wife Tricia, of New Iberia, Robert A. Vilcan and wife Christina, of Charenton: niece Mary R. Vilcan of Charenton; her adopted son Monsignor Ronald C. Groth; 11 great nieces and nephews; 10 great-great nieces and nephews, and numerous God children.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rillius J. Broussard; Parents, Whitney J. Landry and Blanche Oubre Landry of New Iberia; her nephew Richard J. Vilcan and her nephew and God child Whitney L. Vilcan.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Iberia Manor South and Bridgeway Hospice for their loving care.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337)369-6336 is in charge of the arrangements.
