Michael Louis Duplantis

Lafayette - Michael Louis DuPlantis, Sr., 70, of Youngsville, LA, passed away on Sunday April 30, 2017 at his residence.   Visitation will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at David Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Funeral Services following at 2:00pm.

Mr. DuPlantis was born in New Orleans, LA to parents Virginia Raiford DuPlantis and Wilburn J. DuPlantis, Sr. He married his loving wife Karen Hazelwood DuPlantis on July 26, 1969 and they enjoyed 48 years together.  Michael was known for his kindness and generosity, his love of family and friends, his strength and courage throughout his illness; and his devotion to God and his unconditional love for all.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and entertaining his loved ones with his favorite recipes.  He was a successful businessman for over 30 years in the home security industry until the beginning of the battle with his illness.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Hazelwood DuPlantis; his Children, Michael L. DuPlantis, Jr., Christopher M. DuPlantis, Donovan D. DuPlantis and Scott L. Dunlap; Brother, Wilburn J. "Sonny" DuPlantis, Jr.; Sister, Debra A. Maloof; Grandchildren; Steffen, Lindsay, Brandon, Christopher, Makayla, Mason; Great-Grandchildren; Aden, Alaya.

He is preceded in death by his parents Wilburn John DuPlantis, Sr. and Virginia Raiford DuPlantis.
