Loreauville – Funeral services will be conducted for Norman J. Chastant, 75, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Gift Bearers for the funeral service will be Madison Hazelwood, Marcy Chastant and Tammy Prados. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Chastant passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 11:42 AM at Lafayette General Medical Center.He was the owner and operator of Chastant Garage and B & B Auto Parts. He liked to work, go to the casino and gather with friends in the early morning at his shop to drink coffee.He received an Honorable Discharge as a Private with Company G 156th Infantry of the Louisiana National Guard.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Joyce Davidson Chastant of Loreauville; his sons, Billy Chastant and his wife Marcy and Buddy Chastant all of Loreauville; his daughter, Beth Hazelwood and her husband Chad of Loreauville; his sister, Jackie Sandoz of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Dustin Chastant of Loreauville, Landon Chastant of Baton Rouge, Baylor Chastant, Trevor Chastant, Laci Chastant, Brayton Chastant, Brant Hazelwood, Madison Hazelwood and Wyatt Hazelwood all of Loreauville; his co-worker of 51 years and friend, Betty Duhon of Loreauville and numerous “favorite” nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward “Zeg” Chastant and Felecie Bourgeois Chastant; his sisters, Katherine C. Watkins, Loretta C. Prados and Margaret C.
