New Iberia- Funeral Services will be conducted for Charles “Chuck” Stokes, age 71, on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at David’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Neel officiating the service.
Interment will follow at later date.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
A native of Oklahoma and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Stokes went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 9:00 AM.
Mr. Stokes was a loving devoted admirable husband, father and grandfather and was also a great provider. He enjoyed fishing and drinking coffee with his friends. He loved his family unconditionally.
He was a man with multiple talents and skills. During an early age he served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict as an airman. He worked in the oilfield as a driller for fifteen years. Then he took up crawfishing, roofing and carpenter work. His memorable times were spent with family.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years , Darlene Estave Stokes; three daughters; Ashley Elizabeth Stokes of Duson, Jessica Lynn Stokes and fiancé Chris Boudreaux of St. Martinville, and Lisa Stokes Grainger and her husband Gordon of Land’O Lakes, Florida; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and one sister Dora “Lou” Louise Szkatulski of Lafayette.
He is preceded in death by his parents James Robert Stokes and Annie Geraldine Stokes; brother Jimmy Stokes; and sister Kathryn Kuffeldt.
