Mildred Chauvin

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Mildred Rawlins Chauvin, 92, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2017, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Bill Melancon, Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Holy Family Cemetery next to her husband, Beldon Adam Chauvin.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 11:00 AM.

She was born on Bellevoe Plantation and grew up in Weeks Island and was a resident of New Iberia. Mrs. Chauvin passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at 4:15 AM at New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home.

She enjoyed listening to the catholic mass on television, loved to read romance novels and doing word search. She also loved talking to her family and friends on the phone daily. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking and passed on many recipes to her daughters and granddaughters.

She is survived by her daughters Gwendolyn Chauvin Myers, Jocelyn Chauvin Dautreuil, Marilyn Chauvin Burley and her husband Charles Dean Burley and Lori Chauvin Aucoin and her husband Bryan “Bubba” Aucoin all of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Michelle Myers Babineaux and her husband Robert of New Iberia, Stacey Myers Simon and her husband Chad of Carbondale, CO. Vanessa Dautreuil Savoie and her husband Brian of New Iberia, Jason Dautreuil and his wife Dawn of Erath, Tracy Burley Foreman and her husband Everett of Broussard, Bradly Burley and his wife Sheena of Youngsville, Bryan Paul Aucoin and his wife Heather and Hillarie Aucoin Tabb and her husband Brock all of New Iberia; her great grandchildren, Kasey Dautreuil, Alex Babineaux, Luke Dautreuil, Millie Simon, Blake Dautreuil, Zoe Simon, Myles Foreman, Ethan Foreman, Baby Boy, due June 2017 and Baby Boy, due September 2017; her sisters, Hazel Guidry, Merlene Verret both of Patoutville and Irene Stevens of Bridge City, TX; her brother, Robert Rawlins, Jr. of New Iberia and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Beldon Adam Chauvin whom she married on January 30, 1946; her father, Robert Rawlins, Sr.; her mother, Lydia Verret Rawlins; her sister, Lorene Thibodeaux; her brother, Whitney Rawlins; her son’s-in-law, Russell John Myers and Russell “Rusty” Dautreuil and two baby girls.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Dean Burley, Bryan “Bubba” Aucoin, Robert Babineaux, Jason Dautreuil, Bryan Paul Aucoin and Bradly Burley.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brock Tabb, David Pichoff and Dwayne Gaskins.

The family would like to thank New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home for the wonderful care for the last five years and also Bridgeway Healthcare and Hospice in her final days.
