Celebration of life for Ms. Mazel T. Courville, age 74, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the mausoleum in St. Michael Cemetery, 101-199 Cemetery Rd., St. Martinville, La 70582.
Ms. Mazel passed away peacefully at Belle Teche on July 5, 2017, while she was surrounded by her family.
She was born by a midwife in St. Martinville. She has been a resident of St. Martinville her entire life and had many endearing relationships within the community. Ms. Mazel had a true servants heart and to her family and everyone she came in contact with. Many years she worked for chicken feed because she knew the eggs that the chickens produced is what instilled work ethic and food for her family. She led by example and taught her children that wealth doesn’t come from money, but Jehovah’s provision She loved each of her children as if they were her only child. She never looked at them with regrets regardless of the circumstances life threw at her. She was relentless in her faith and had the unbreakable faith of a child to the end. She had a contagious humor that brought joy to others. The fruits of the Spirit were obvious in the life that she lived. She knew where she was going and she knew peace awaited her. Ms. Mazel knew where her strength came from and her favorite saying was “ Jehovah is Good!” She was the epitome of love and “her children called her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28. Her hobbies included shopping, gardening, going to church but her passion was reading and meditating on the word of God. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and like she said “Let the good times roll!”
She is survived by her children Dale and Denise of St. Martinville, Yvonne of Delcambre, Dovic of St. Martinville, Connie and John Bourque of Coteau, Jerry and Linda of St. Martinville, Jacqueline “Jackie” and Lonnie Bonin of St. Martinville, Ronnie and Kirsten of Lafayette, 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brothers Macie, Melvin, Maurice, Max and Marcel Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marcel Sr. and Mabel Touchet Theriot, her brother Murphy.
