New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Jerry J. Louviere, 81, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Keith Landry officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM by the Men’s Rosary Group.
Mr. Louviere was born in Loreauville and resided in New Iberia. He passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 7:40 PM at Iberia Medical Center.
He was a retired Field Engineer in the Sugar Cane Industry. His work brought him throughout the Acadiana area, Texas where he began his career and around the world to Belize, Honduras, Africa, the Ivory Coast and Haiti. He was also the Field Engineer for Jeanerette Sugar Mill for eighteen years until its closing. He was a Machinist, a Master Craftsman in Woodworking and enjoyed farming, gardening and dancing to French Music. He loved his family, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and his many Pomeranian’s.
He is survived by his children, Melinda Perez, Melissa Alaniz, Terrell Louviere, Troy Louviere and his wife Belinda, Todd Louviere and Trent Louviere and his wife Darlene all of New Iberia; his 2nd love of his life, Bertha David of New Iberia; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Louviere of Kyle, TX; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Romero Louviere; his parents, John Joseph Louviere and Josephine Melancon Louviere; his son, Timothy Louviere; his brothers, Ury, Collins, Fernest, Clarence, Lloyd, Moise, Junius and Claude Louviere and his sisters, Joyce Albert, Yolande Viator and his grandchild, Lance Lovell.
Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Louviere, Troy Louviere, Terrell Louviere, Keenan Louviere, Rickey Albert and Russell Louviere.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Trent Paul Louviere.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cousin, Dr. Lewis, Iberia Medical Center Staff and Heart of Hospice of Acadiana.
