Lafayette- A Memorial Service for Mr. Carroll Lee Frederick, 66, will be held at a later date.

A resident of Lafayette Mr. Frederick passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 8:05AM in Lafayette. Mr. Carroll struggled with many hardships throughout his lifetime such as impoverishment and homelessness. Normality for Mr. Carroll was a challenge all on its own as with each passing day he would survive at the mercy of human kindness relying on stranger's helping hands and caring hearts. Day in and day out Mr. Carroll's life would be subject to an unbearable and yet unchangeable routine. Each day his waking view was of a parking lot with yellow painted lines and silver buggies. His mornings were filled with imagines of strangers that all seemed to hold a familiar stare and travel within the same direction. His afternoons were spent listening to the same mothers' lecture their children on behaving yet using the same bribes of toys when done. Every evening stayed the same and followed the same routines of watching workers rollback the same prices that were rolled back the week before and hearing the same couples with the same coupons brag about pinching pennies. This was life and it was all he knew until one day those same employees who once looked like strangers were no longer strangers at all and instead became his Walmart family. A family that would help him seek employment with Walmart in the meat department , guide and direct him on a path built for success and most importantly love him. For the last seven years, Mr. Carroll touched every life he came into contact with while continuing to live humble, appreciative and respectful to all who knew him. He will be remembered as a hard worker, who loved Western Movies , was compassionate and a giving soul whether that be giving someone the last dollar in his wallet or the shirt off his back if need be.

He is survived by his Walmart family; Shauna Meaux and her husband John of Maurice, Rusty Girouard and his wife Camille of Lafayette, Victoria Clendenin and her fiance Herbert Swier of Crowley, Joann Talley of St. Martinville, Berney Morvant and his wife Linda of Maurice, Luke Hagar, Melissa Mitchell and her husband Carol, Brittany Hamilton and her husband Joe, Darlene Gachssin all of Lafayette, Shanel St Julien of New Iberia, Malee Philayvanh of St. Martinville, Randy Gasparilla of New Iberia and countless other friends that were blessed to know him, love him, and remember him.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Frederick.
