A native of Loreauville and long-time resident of Lafayette, Rogers moved back to his hometown of Loreauville to live near his family. His last few years were spent residing at Belle Teche Nursing Home.
Rogers was a hardworking man and oilfield worker, retiring after 30+ years with Texaco. He was a jack-of-all-trades doing odd jobs on his days off for family and friends. What Rogers will be most notably remembered for was his love and passion for music. He began singing at an early age with his mother and brother and later taught himself how to play the guitar. He was a gifted and talented musician who enjoyed singing and playing for his great-grandchildren for holidays and at weekly jam sessions with his friends. His beautiful singing voice will be dearly missed by his family.
Rogers is survived by his children, Priscilla Daly and her husband Thomas Daly, Ellen Gondron and her husband Earl Gondron, Jr., Angela Crochet and her husband Shane Crochet; grandchildren, Thomas Daly II, Kimberly Daly Kirkpatrick, David Landry, Sharon Landry Ditata, Karen Landry, Kelsey Gondron, Kodi Gondron Mejia, Seth Gondron, Cullen Crochet and Brennan Crochet; and sister-in-law Louella Oubre. He also leaves a lasting legacy of 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rogers now reunites in his Heavenly home with his parents Antoine Dugas and Marcelite Louviere Dugas; his one and only love, wife Hazel Borel Dugas; his loving daughter Rita Rae Dugas Landry; his brother and sister-in-law Alvee and Edith Dugas, infant brother Jerry Dugas; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mazel and Elton Barras.
Pallbearers carrying Rogers to his final resting place are his six grandsons, Thomas Daly II, Kelsey Gondron, Seth Gondron, David Landry, Cullen Crochet and Brennan Crochet.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Belle Teche Nursing Home for the care and compassion given to make Rogers’ last days ones of comfort, to the many residents of Belle Teche who extended their friendship and kindness to him, and Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness.
