Cobey Braquet

Loreauville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Cobey Braquet, 39, on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Onuegbe, Chaplain of Lafayette General Medical Center will serve as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Recitation of the Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 7:00 PM with the Men’s Rosary Group at the funeral home.

A native of Loreauville, Cobey went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:40 AM at the Carpenter House in Lafayette. He was a Galley Hand in the oil field industry with Sunoco Oil, loved to fish and worked with the Sugar Cane with his father and on the horse farm.

He is survived by his father, Larry Braquet of Loreauville; mother, Aline LeBlanc Braquet of Loreauville; two brothers, Curtis and Chris of Opelousas; sister, Amelia Mel and husband Shannon Hook of Port Barre; cousin and caregiver, Dickey Vicknair of Loreauville; godmother, Dorothy Jeannsone of Parks; Aunts, Mary Lou Frederick, Maxine Latiolais, Pam Venerable Braquet, Sue Braquet, Patricia Braquet Philips, Julie LeBlanc and Dale LeBlanc; uncles, Bobby LeBlanc, John Sonnier, Harvey Braquet and Charles LeBlanc; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Nicholas LeBlanc, Sr. and Emile Landry LeBlanc; paternal grandparents, Louto Braquet, Sr. and Elda Bourque; uncles; Louto Braquet, Jr, Eugene Braquet, Harvey Latiolais, Nicholas LeBlanc, Jr, Nelson LeBlanc, Anthony Champagne, Jr. also his godfather, Anthony Champagne, III and Harold Frederick; aunts, Eula Mae Champagne, Janice Trahan LeBlanc and Mary Ann Blanchard.

Pallbearers will be Dickey Vicknair, Luther Vicknair, John Sonnier, Tommy Pommier, Lennie Vaughn and Richard Keenan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Leblanc, Robby Frederick, Marcus Keenan and Matt Keenan.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff and nurses at Carpenter House of Lafayette and Intensive Care Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
