New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Edward J. “Ed” Landry, 84, on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeter as Celebrant. Military Honors will follow at Broussard Cemetery with the Iberia Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:30 PM and will continue on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM. Recitation of the Rosary will be prayed on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 7:00 PM with the Men’s Rosary Group at the funeral home.
Ed, who was affectionately known as “Honey” by his family and close friends considered the most important dedications in life was his family, faith, children and grandchildren. He would always tell others that “he had the greatest kids in the world.” He took great pleasure with camping, hunting, and fishing with family and close friends; a proud veteran who served his country in the Korean Conflict from 1953 until 1955 as a Medic in the Medical Company, 8th Infantry APO 39. Ed started line work in 1956 with L. E. Myers, utility contracting 28 years with Lopez Construction, Dixie electric and retired with E. P. Breaux Electrical.
He is survived by the love of his life for 60 years, Loretta B. Landry of New Iberia; daughters, Vicky L. Bonin and husband Johnny, Donna L. Primeaux and husband Don; son, Mark E. Landry and wife Vale; grandchildren, Nicholas Bonin and wife Brooke and Brad Bonin and wife Brittany, Dustin Primeaux and wife Kaitlyn and Chasse Primeaux; Mackie Landry and Maci Landry, Blaine Maturin; great-grandchildren, Parker and Rylee Bonin and Emily Primeaux; brother, Gerald Landry and wife Lois; sister, Jo C. Loring and husband Harry; brother-in-law, Kernie Boudreaux; nieces, Anastasia L. Gisclair and husband Paul; Jenny L. Parrie and husband Michael; Roxanne F. and Greg Poimboeuf, Patrice and Carrie Cavalier; a number of great-neices and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nelton J. Landry; mother, Edmae T. Landry; sister, Joyce L. Freeze; mother and father-in-law, Olga and Ellis Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be Mark Landry, Nicholas Bonin, Brad Bonin, Dustin Primeaux, Chasse Primeaux and Terry Badeaux.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Landry, Don Primeaux, Johnny Bonin, Blaine Maturin and Paul “Allen” Boudreaux.
