New Iberia – Funeral services for James “Jim” Fleming will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Highland Baptist Church located at 607 Victory Drive in New Iberia, LA at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at David’s Funeral Home in New Iberia on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, January 6 from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. The services will be conducted by Rev. Terry Douglas (former pastor at Highland Baptist Church) and Rev. David Denton (current pastor at Highland Baptist Church). Music will be by Dick Day (former Minister of Music at Highland Baptist Church).
Jim passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 2, 2018, at Manor North Nursing Home in New Iberia.
Jim graduated from Welsh High School in Welsh, LA and Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. He then went into the Army Reserve. He worked for Teledyne Movible Offshore in New Iberia and Lafayette until retirement. He spent most of his time in Branson, MO for the last 18 years. He managed craft stores and did their accounting. He enjoyed playing tennis and painting.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene Casslemann Fleming; son, Kent Fleming of Youngsville, La and daughter, Keisha Fleming Carlin (spouse Chris Carlin) of Midlothian, TX; grandchildren, Victoria Fleming, Zachary Fleming (spouse Hailey Fleming), Hannah Verzwyvelt (spouse Chris Verzwyvelt), Erin Fleming, Patrick Carlin, Savanna Carlin and Daniel Carlin; great grandchildren, Emerson Fleming and Jackson Fleming.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Fleming, Sr. and Alice Mae Fleming.
