Richard J Gale

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Richard “Dick” J. Gale, 86, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Bullock, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment with Military Graveside Rites by the
U. S. Marine Corps Honor Guard will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home at 1101 Trotter St. in New Iberia on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 10:00 AM until the time of services.

A native of Oakland County, MI and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Gale passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 4:47 AM in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings.

He was veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was the owner and operator of Gale’s Refrigeration and then went on to work for the Iberia Parish School Board at New Iberia Senior High. He retired from the University of Louisiana Research Center in New Iberia.

He was a former member of the New Iberia Kiwanis Club and traveled to all 48 of the contiguous United States. Richard enjoyed dancing and puttering in his shop and he loved to tell stories of his adventures. He was a patient teacher and a loving family man.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna LeJeune and her husband Bob of Lafayette and Kathy DuBois and her husband Byron of Lexington, KY; his companion, Geri Stockstill of Picayune, MS; his brother, Robert G. Gale of Ocala, FL; his grandchildren, Timothy B. LeJeune and his wife Elizabeth, Rosemary Edmonds and her husband John, Celia DuBois, Stuart DuBois and Marlee DuBois and his great grandchildren, Rian LeJeune and Elise LeJeune.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Case Gale; his father, Frederick Earl Gale; his mother, Florence Marie Grenier Gale and his brothers, Earl Leonard Gale, Kenneth Gale and James Henry Gale and his sister, Genevieve Yanakeff.

Pallbearers will be Tim LeJeune, Stuart DuBois, Max Fuller, Kermit “Mousey” Comeaux, Celia DuBois and Charlie Verret.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob LeJeune and Byron DuBois.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Staffs of Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings and Lamm Family Care Hospice in Crowley for the love, care and respect they shared with all of us along this journey.
