Jeanerette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Karl “Pap” Prados, age 58, will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Jeanerette with Father Jody Simoneaux celebrating the mass. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 8:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM.
A native of Jeanerette and resident of Lydia, Mr. Karl went home to be with the Lord Jesus on March 29, 2018 at 1:28 AM. “Pap”, as he was affectionately known, was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor and a quick wit. At an early age he would go into the oil and gas industry where he would dedicate his career to provide for his loving family. He was employed by Twin Brothers Marine as an operator for most of his career. Some of his hobbies included fishing, cooking, gardening, and watching Saints Football. His true passions came from his most loyal companion, his dog Baxter, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 23 years, Mrs. Chandi Prados, his mother Mrs. Theresa Prados of Jeanerette; his son Karl Prados Jr and his wife Tara of New Iberia, daughter Nicole P. Varner and husband Kevin of Broussard, son Matt Prados of New Iberia, daughter Logan Prados and longtime boyfriend Rhett Lanie of Patoutville, son Jake Prados of Lydia; grandchildren Bella Prados and David Kye Varner; and his brother Lester Jude Prados and his wife Lilly Ruth of Wakeman, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his father Mr. Lester Prados, Brother Jan Christopher Prados, his father in law Michael Landry and his mother in law Stella Landry.
Upholding the honor as pallbearers will be Karl Prados Jr., Matt Prados, Jake Prados, Kevin Varner, Rhett Lanie, Jude Prados and Bill Boudreaux.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Scott, Gene Fontenot, Jamie Scott and Lynnwood Derouen.
