Frederick Hoyer

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Frederick E. “Fred” Hoyer, 85, on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter and Fr. Keith Landry officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at David Funeral Home 1101 Trotter St. in New Iberia from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM and a rosary will be prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group on Thursday at 11:00 AM.

A native of Thibodeaux and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hoyer passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 6:45 PM in a St. Martinville nursing facility.

He was employed by the Iberia Parish School Board and served as the Assistant Principal at New Iberia Freshman High School and retired in 1988 as Principal at Coteau Elementary School. He also served as Principal at St. Joseph School in Jeanerette. He worked in the GED Program with the Iberia Parish School System.

He was a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Creole Gourmets and served as President in 1988.

He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.

He traveled all over the United States and loved to cook, especially his pralines.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Richard Hoyer of New Iberia; his sons, Mark Hoyer of Houston, TX and Kirk Michael Hoyer and his wife Qui of Miramar Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maximalliam Hoyer and Mable Romagosa Hoyer and his brother, Max Hoyer.
