A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Lopez peacefully passed away on early in the morning of June 11, 2018 at his home with family at his side.

Calise was born May 12, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of New Iberia, providing an inspirational role model of constancy and devotion to his family, friends and community throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty Jane) Switzer Lopez, in 1948 and their faithful and unflagging love to each other and their family has inspired his offspring, all successful and loving parents, and serves as a durable legacy for generations that follow.

Generous and kind, he was a quiet man of few words but many good deeds, slow to anger but quick to forgive. An avid photographer and world traveller, he has a photographic portfolio that will remind his family of him for years to come. Deeply religious, he was a man of humble character and quiet strength who lived his life the way God intended, supporting his family through the joys and tribulations of life with steadfast faith and reliability. He was the consummate husband, father and provider to his family, generously offering strong, loving guidance and support to his six children, as well as their children and grandchildren. His faith and devotion continues to provide a constant yet practical moral compass to all of his descendants.

His exemplary life extended beyond his personal life, whether in his nearly 50 years of employment with Cleco or to his many volunteer activities through his association with the Kiwanis and his work with the Evangeline Little League over the years. His volunteer work with New Iberia youngsters helped many value teamwork and gain confidence in themselves that they carried with them to adulthood. Throughout all phases and activities of his life, his character and actions quietly but consistently supported and improved his family and community. The pain of his passing is eased by the endless stories of love and devotion that his exemplary life provides.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Jeanne Lopez of Metairie, Caleen Lopez Lavin and her husband Jim of Opelousas, Randall Lawrence Lopez and his wife Karen of San Anselmo, CA, Alycia Lopez Boudreaux and her husband Mark of New Iberia, Richard Craig Lopez and his wife Michele of Jasper, AL and Stacey Lopez Kleinpeter and her husband Karl of Jackson; his grandchildren, Kristen Piazza Soloman, Karyn Piazza Leach, Daniel Langan, Theo Langan, Anna Lopez Gabele, Jacob Lopez, Nikki Clary LeGlue, Megan Clary Guillory, Madison Lopez, Luke Russell, Jacob Russell, Shanika McRae Auguste, Lacey McRae Landry, Alyssia Beth Kleinpeter, Kalyn Kleinpeter, Andrew Kleinpeter and Kristopher Kleinpeter; and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lopez, his father, Calise Lopez, Sr. and mother, Laurence Romero Lopez, his brother, Claude Lopez Sr. and his sisters Mildred Lopez and Margaret Lopez Rivers.

Pallbearers will be Randy Lopez, Jacob Lopez, Richard Lopez, Andrew Kleinpeter, Kristopher Kleinpeter, and Theo Langan.
