Ray Gonzales

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Ray Gonzales, 83, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, in the David Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will be at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 2:30 PM.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home at 1101 Trotter St. in New Iberia on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

A native of Esterwood and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Gonzales passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 3:14 PM in a New Iberia hospital.

Mr. Gonzales enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for 20 years and retired as Chief Warrant Officer and during his enlistment he served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era.

Mr. Gonzales also retired as Chief of Security at the Smithsonian Institute with the Department of Defense in Washington.

He is survived by his son, Marvin Gonzales and his wife Michele of Baton Rouge; his granddaughter, Samatha Kelly Gonzales; his grandson, Tyler Gonzales and his great grandchildren, Jenna Gonzales, Sophie Erminger and Nicholas Erminger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Gonzales and Cedonia Myers Gonzales; his brothers, Gus Gonzales, Roy Gonzales and Ivy Gonzales and his sister, Aline Gonzales Touchet.
