Hughes W "Squirrel" Wiley Sr.

New Iberia—Funeral Services for Mr. Hughes W. “Squirrel” Wiley Sr. will be conducted on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 3:00 PM at David Funeral Home Chapel located at 1101 Trotter Street with Rev. David Denton of Highland Baptist Church officiating services. Entombment will be at Holy Family Mausoleum located at 2807 Curtis Lane.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at David Funeral Home located at 1101 Trotter Street at 12:00 Noon until time of service at 3:00 PM.

Hughes “Squirrel” Wiley Sr. was born on May 21, 1937, to Red and Lucille Vines Wiley. “Squirrel” was a lifelong resident of New Iberia who enjoyed the simpler things in life. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard, collecting guns, and most of all, he was known for making different articles of western wear.

Hughes is survived by his two daughters; Jermaine W. Sonnier and her husband Steve of Friendswood, Tx, Shani L. Doucet and her husband Shawn of New Iberia, one son, Hughes W. Wiley, II and his wife Christina of New Iberia; brother, Woodson Wiley of Alabama; sister, Shawnee Patout of New Iberia; grandchildren; Coby Sonnier and his wife Morgan of Houston, Tx., Jeremy Sonnier and his wife Kacie of Austin, Tx., Callie Doucet of New Iberia, Caroline Doucet of New Iberia, Camryn Doucet of New Iberia and Seth Wiley of New Iberia.

Hughes is preceded in death by his wife LaNell Collins Wiley and his parents Red and Lucille Vines Wiley.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Steve Sonnier, Shawn Doucet, Hughes Wiley II, Coby Sonnier, Jeremy Sonnier.
