Lionel J. Mire, Jr.

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Lionel J. Mire, Jr., 75, at
10:00 AM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Bill Melancon officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Friday, September 7, 2018, at 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A rosary will be prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group in the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 PM.

A native of Jeanerette, a former resident of New Iberia and a current resident of Gretna, Mr. Mire passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at 9:25 AM upon arrival at Sabine Medical Center in Many, LA.

He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era having served in the U. S. Army. He worked in the oil field industry for 50 years, retired in 2013 to enjoy his camp at Toledo Bend, catching big bass and telling his stories to anyone he met.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Reid Perrin Mire of Gretna; his sister, Gwen Mire Troney and her husband Todd of Mize, MS and by many caring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel J. Mire, Sr. and Beulah Delcambre Mire; his sons, Troy Michael Mire and Tracy James Mire; his sister, Sylvia Ann Guyote and his brother, Gerald P. Mire.
