Charles Woffard Hippler

December 24, 1930 — September 14, 2018

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Charles Woffard “Paloo” Hippler, 87, on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 1:30 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Alexander Albert officiating. Burial will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM and a Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home by the Men’s Rosary Group at 1:00 PM.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hippler passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, at 5:29 PM at Iberia Extended Care Hospital.

He was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High School and served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He worked for the Louisiana Department of Transportation for 39 years.

He enjoyed sweets and a glass of milk, traveling and was a very simple man.

He is survived by his sons, Robert Hippler and his wife Teresa and Michael Hippler all of New Iberia; his daughters, Karen Lehmann and her husband Richard of Broussard and Nancy Behrnes and her husband Michael of Grosse Tete; his grandchildren, Ben Hippler and his fiance’ Danielle Wagner, Bonnie Hippler, Kevin Hippler, Karl Lehmann, Kimberly Lehmann and Kristin Guilbeau and his great grandchild, Audrey Hippler.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Karen Schexnayder “Kay” Hippler; his parents, Charles Roy Hippler and Laura Holleman Hippler; his brother, Carroll Hippler and his sister, Gladys Hippler Dugas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Lehmann, Karl Lehmann, Ben Hippler, Michael Hippler, Robert Hippler and Michael Behrnes.

The family would like to extend a Thank You to all his many friends, including his card playing group and traveling companions. He spoke fondley of all of you often. To Vernon and Marion Bouligny, to whom he loved and cherished dearly, we would like to give a special thanks of gratitude for the many happy memories. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Karen, Mike and Claudette.
