Gerald Lee Derouen , Sr.

New Iberia—Funeral service will be conducted for Mr. Gerald Lee Derouen, Sr, age 72, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating the service. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home beginning Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 12 noon, closing at 8:00 PM with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 8:00 AM until the time of services.

Mr. Gerald Lee Derouen, Sr. was born January 8, 1946, to William E. and Rena Desormeaux Derouen and was a lifelong resident of New Iberia.

Gerald worked for Cox Cable company where he worked as a technician for the sum of 20 plus years when he retired. As a young man, he and his friends loved playing music and formed a band.

Gerald loved spending time with his family but most of all he truly loved his grandchildren and sitting, fishing in the shade of a tree on a hot summer day.

Gerald is survived by his son, Gerald Lee. Derouen, Jr. and his wife Nicole of New Iberia and his daughter, Natasha Derouen Romero of Youngsville; grandchildren, William Derouen, Quinn Derouen Fortson, Zoie Ann Romero, and Kade Joseph Derouen; great-grandchildren, Bentley Fortson, Ravynn Derouen, Carter Derouen; god-child, Regina Hebert Steele.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Metzel, Mitch Steele, Michael Frederick, Gerald Lee Derouen, Jr., William Lee Derouen, and David Elzey.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Steele and Kade Joseph Romero.

Mr. Derouen was preceded in by his parents William E. and Rena Desomeaux Derouen; sister, Patricia Derouen Hebert: a niece, Rachel Hebert Romero, and his brother-in-law, Charles Hebert.
