Hollie Corley

New Iberia – Funeral arrangements are pending for Mr. Hollie Emile Corley, age 73, who passed away at 1:50 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center of Lafayette.

He will be cremated with a private interment in Georgetown, LA. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held in the near future with the date, time and place to be announced.

Hollie was born in Bay St. Louis, MS on April 13, 1945 and moved to New Iberia with his family in 1951. He attended Dodson Elementary School and graduated from Catholic High School in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1972. While in college he was a member of Sigma Nu Social Fraternity. He was also active in student government, serving as an Ombudsman for the USL Student Council in 1969 and an Off-Campus Dormitory Representative in 1970.

He spent the last forty plus years working in the oil and gas industry in petro-chemical sales. Hollie worked for ten years in South East Asia and another thirty plus years on the Gulf Coast in Houston, TX, Lafayette and New Orleans, LA. He finally returned home to the New Iberia area in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina displaced him from his residence in New Orleans, LA.

He was preceded in death by his father LD Corley, his mother Evelyn Merle Smith Corley, and his sister, Julia Smith Corley.
