Jessie "Hoss" V. Higgins, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Jessie went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the Franklin Health Care Center. Hoss was the owner and operator of Higgins Fish Market in Jeanerette, loved to shrimp, crawfish and run hoop nets in the river. He was the song leader at church where he played his guitar and sang. He never met a stranger and made those who met him comfortable with his upbeat attitude and enjoyed his time with family, friends and eating.
He is survived by his children, Ophema McQuiston and husband Steve, Calvin Higgins, Sr. and wife Cindy, daughter-in-law Cheryl Higgins, Lola Olander and husband Thomas and Jessie Lee Higgins and wife Mitsy all of Jeanerette, Trudy Chauvin and husband David of Franklin; sister, Vera Bull of Forney, TX; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Annie Kelley Higgins; parents, Jessie Lee and Nina Higgins; son, Johnny Higgins; sister, Nellie Persilver; brother, James Howard Higgins.
Pallbearers will be David McQuiston, Jessie Ray Higgins, Jason Higgins, David R. Chauvin, Thomas J. Olander and Joshua Higgins.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Higgins, Jr, Brandon McQuiston, Nathan Higgins and Calvin Higgins, Jr.
