Dorsey "Twick" Romero , Sr.

Coteau—Funeral service for Mr. Dorsey J. “Twick” Romero, Sr. will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 11:00 AM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Brian Harrington officiating the services.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, beginning at 4:00 PM until closing at 9:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 PM.

Visitation will resume on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 8:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery with military honors.

Dorsey J. Romero, Sr. age 95 passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, at 2:59 AM at his residence in Coteau.

Mr. Dorsey J. Romero, Sr. served his country proudly during WWII  in the United States Army.

“Twick”, spent much of his spare time fishing, trolling, going to the casino, working in his vegetable garden and taking care of his beloved cows.  After his retirement from his regular job as a welder/fitter (Local 198/Baton Rouge), he enjoyed building bar-b-que pits. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and he enjoyed cooking BBQ.

Dorsey is survived by his children; Dorsay J. Romero, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of St. Martinville, Glen P. Romero and his wife Vickie of Broussard, Perry “Blue” Romero and his wife, Sandra and Keith A. Romero and his wife Jody both of Coteau; grandchildren, Luke Romero, Troy Romero, Jude Romero, Bambi Diaz, Casey Romero, Tomica Hebert, Tammy Lejeune, Erica Bonin, Eric Romero and Lane Romero; one sister, Bernadette “Sue” Henry of Westlake.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dorsay J. Romero, Jr., Glen P. Romero, Perry “Blue” Romero, Keith A. Romero, Luke Romero, Casey Romero, Eric Romero, and Lane Romero.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Evenette “Sis” Broussard Romero; son, Carol Jude Romero; parents, Elizey and Viola Melancon Romero; and one brother, Howard “Neg” Romero, Sr., and wife Aimee Sieber Romero and brother-in-law, Delton Henry.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Acadian Hospice of Lafayette and a very special thank you to Gayle Johnson, Linda Romero Broussard (niece) and Kitty Courts for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Dorsey.
