Mr. Louis, age 81, departed from this world at 12:47 PM on Monday, January 21, 2019, at The Carpenter House of Lafayette, while surrounded by his loving family. He had a very gentle and methodical nature that shaped a man who never met an enemy. Mr. Clement was a patient man with a heart of gratitude, who wasn’t afraid to slow the hectic pace of life and enjoy the beauty that surrounded him. He had a great sense of direction and somehow, his moral compass was always pointing towards the appreciation of “the little things” in life. Whether he was traveling domestically or abroad; he always found a way to stop and enjoy each passing moment. Some of his hobbies included eating out with his family, family vacations and family gatherings. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino and he was a very skilled craftsman working with wood. His memories will remain in the hearts of those that knew him and loved him, for a lifetime.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mrs. Gayle Rogers Clement of Jeanerette; his daughter, Iva Lee Clement of Youngsville; his son, Louis “Trey” Clement III and his wife Stephanie of Franklin; his sister Shirley Jean Clement of Jeanerette; his grandchildren Alex Clement and his wife Sarah, Emily Clement, Ellen Clement and Elise Clement; his great-grandchildren, Henry Clement and Millicent Clement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Louis C. Clement Sr. and Mrs. Iva Lee Harris Clement; and his sister, Doris Guillot.
Mr. Louis had a favorite quote from A Psalm of Life, “Life is real! Life is Earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust though art, to dust returnest; was not spoken of the soul.” ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
