Jeanerette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Antoine “Pabon” Blanchard, 91, will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter as Celebrant. Military Honors will follow at St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Recitation of the Rosary will be prayed on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 6:30 PM at the funeral home with the Jeanerette Rosary Group.
Antoine went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his residence with family members with him. He was a Surveyor of Shell Oil Company for thirty-six years and a veteran of the U. S. Army where he was a Combat Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. Pabon enjoyed dinning at Landry Seafood and time spent in the garden. His passion for collecting model cars and planes offered him relaxation and time spent with children, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, William Blanchard and wife Carol Tumey of Saline County AR, Carolyn Fontenot and husband Steve of New Iberia, Marlene Landry and husband Chris of Coteau; step-daughter, Ruby Benoit; five sisters, Rita Charpentier, Beatrice Judice, Lucy Marcotte, Emily Blanchard and Irene Blanco; brother, Ambrose “Boo” Blanchard; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alice Derouen Blanchard; second wife, Ruby Stroud Blanchard; father, Rene Blanchard; mother, Anita Gaudet Blanchard; step-son, Jack “Buddy” St. German; step-daughter, Jeannie Mach; three sisters, Regina Frederick, Marie Ann and Lena Mae “Flosie” Businell; three brothers, Frank Blanchard, Elton Blanchard and Abel Blanchard.
Pallbearers will be William Blanchard, Doug Blanchard, Cody Landry, Lindsey Fontenot, Mariah Jordan and Brandon Jordan
Honorary pallbearers will be Barak Landry, Ambrose “Boo” Blanchard, Mackie Landry, Jason Blanchard, Chris Landry, Steve Fontenot and Adam Blaze.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. J. Benjamin Proctor and his staff and to Hospice of Acadiana and the caregivers who took care of him.
