New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Suanne Westmoreland Kidd, 86, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2019, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allan Myers officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum.Visitation will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at David Funeral Home in New Iberia.A native of Hossten, LA and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Kidd passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 11:15 AM at her daughter’s residence in Opelousas.She was a 1954 Graduate of Northwestern State University School of Nursing in Natchitoches, LA. Licensed the same year by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing Examiners and served 29 years as a registered nurse in good standing with the American Nurses Association.During her nursing career she worked at Iberia Medical Center where she held many positions, Head Nurse, Head Nurse of Surgery, Surgical Supervisor, Operating Room and E.R..She was also a Nurse’s Aid Instructor, EPSDT School Nurse and General School Nurse with the Iberia Parish School System in the elementary and screening of Pre-K entrants while working with the board and local pediatricians. She served with the board of the Louisiana Nurses Association of the Louisiana State Department of Education, writing curriculum guides for practical nurse education and the nursing assistant program for Louisiana.She was a member of Louisiana School Nurses Organization, National School Nurses Organization, eight year member of Iberia Teachers Association and Louisiana Teachers Association, Kappa Kappa Iota Teachers Society, Mental Health Association of Iberia Parish and the Cancer Board of Iberia Parish.She was Past President of Town and Country Garden Club and Les Amies, Inc. and a member of Highland Baptist Church where she was an Adult Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and Soloist and past president of the Women’s Missionary Union.She is survived by her children, Frank Bell Kidd, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Marilyn Ruth Kidd all of New Iberia and Dr. Sue Ellen K. Myers and her husband Allan of Opelousas; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bell Kidd, Sr.; her parents, John D. and Susie Anna Stanberry Westmoreland; her brothers, J. D. Westmoreland, Jr., Manon Westmoreland, James Westmoreland and Douglas Westmoreland and her sisters, Eugenia W. Winn, Marilyn W. Macklin and June W.
