Oliver "Sonny" Vaughn, Jr.

New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Oliver “Sonny” Vaughn, Jr., 88, at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 9, 2019, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Marty Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Iberia Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 9:00 AM until the service time and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home by the Men’s Rosary Group at 10:00 AM.

A native of Loreauville and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Vaughn passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 10:06 PM at Maison Teche Nursing Home.

He was employed with EXXON for over 30 years then went to work as a dispatcher for Delmar for 20 years.

He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was an All-State Quarterback at Loreauville High School. He was a former member and board member of the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival Association. He was a longtime member and Past President of the Ancient Order of Creole Gourmet Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Segura and her husband Vic; his sons, Richard Vaughn and his wife Judy and Michael Vaughn all of New Iberia; his step-sons, Clifford Doiron, Sr. and his wife Barbara and Adam Doiron both of New Iberia; his sister, Dora Belle Mestayer of Loreauville; his brother, Jack Vaughn of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Nicole Guilbeau, Victoria Segura, Jarrod Segura, Caley Vaughn, Cody Vaughn, Corey Vaughn, Clifford Doiron, Jr., Ricky Doiron and Casey Doiron and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lou Peterson Vaughn; his second wife, Geraldine Evans Doiron Vaughn; daughter, Janine Vaughn his parents, Pierre Oliver and Gertrude Ronsonet Vaughn; his step-son, Freddie Doiron and his grandchildren, Robin Doiron, Trisha Doiron, and Jamie Doiron.

Pallbearers will be Cody Vaughn, Corey Vaughn, Jarrod Segura, Kelby Guilbeau, Gage Guilbeau, and Nicholas Guilbeau.

Honorary pallbearers will be Caley Vaughn, Taran Guilbeau, Clifford Doiron, Jr., Ricky Doiron, and Steven Doiron.
